Taking poetry from the page to the stage!

POETRY RIVALS IS BACK FOR 2015 AND HEADING TO THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL WITH BURNING EYE BOOKS!

Poetry Rivals 2015 is now open! This year they've partnered with Burning Eye Books, the UK's leading spoken word publisher and the slam final will be held at The Elgar Room in The Royal Albert Hall on 2nd April 2016.


Building on the success of last year's format, the slam champion will have their pamphlet published with Burning Eye Books and Poetry Rivals will create a promotional video for the winner.


Entrants are welcome to submit their work in written form and this year Poetry Rivals are also accepting entries by audio or video files. A longlist of 100 will be published and awarded 5 free copies each. A shortlist of 30 finalists will be invited to attend the live slam final and compete for the amazing prize.


Judges are confirmed as Vanessa Kissule (Poetry Rivals' 2011 Slam Champion), Clive Birnie (Founder of Burning Eye Books), Hollie McNish (UK Slam Champion), Morgan Walton (Founder of Poetry Rivals) and Mark Grist will host.


Poetry Rivals has got better every year! It's a pleasure to be involved again and with such a fantastic prize on offer, I'm excited to see what talent we'll discover this year," said Mark Grist, who's judged and hosted Poetry Rivals since its inception in 2009.


Entries must be received by 30th November 2015 along with the entry fee. If you enter by the 16th October you'll be entitled to an additional free entry, doubling your chances of winning!
